Holding Our Prices For the Holidays
From January 5, we will be increasing the prices of our classes and courses. We know that many writers are currently exploring our website and considering joining us, and we don’t want these price changes to come as a surprise. We’re therefore holding our current rates until the end of December, giving you the opportunity to enrol before the new pricing takes effect. We hope to have you with us soon!
In recent months, we’ve worked hard to maintain our existing prices despite rising costs. However, to continue offering world-class coaching from bestselling authors and professional editors—and to ensure the personalized support our writers value most—we need to make this adjustment. At The Novelry, we’re proud to offer an experience unlike any other writing school.
Our in-house editors come from Big Five publishers. Our writing coaches are bestselling authors across every genre. Our trusted literary agents represent many of the most respected agencies around the world. We are a team of writers and editors who know exactly what it takes to bring a novel to publishing standard, and we offer daily lessons from a Booker Prize–listed author and more than 60 live workshops and classes each week. We strive to be the best.
If your ambition is to complete a novel to publishing standard—or to take the next step in your writing career—there is no better value than a course or class at The Novelry. Our focus has always been on our writers, and that will never change.
From January 5, the following prices will apply:
- The Finished Novel Course: $4,995 USD

Course information and structure
What makes The Novelry’s courses such good value?
Our biggest investment is in people. We employ an in-house team of world-class writers and editors—not freelancers—who bring both major accolades and genuine passion for nurturing new talent. It’s a rare combination, and we pay them properly for their expertise and care.
You’ll develop your novel with a New York Times or Sunday Times bestselling author—someone who’s reached the top ten and sold books worldwide.
Your manuscript will receive attention from editors who’ve held key roles at Big Five publishers such as Penguin Random House and have edited authors like David Baldacci, Harlan Coben, Nicholas Sparks, Joyce Carol Oates, Joanna Trollope—even Stephen King.
Behind the scenes, our interdisciplinary teams meet regularly in small, genre-focused groups to review your progress as an individual writer and ensure you’re developing to reach your highest potential.
Our lessons are written and presented by a Booker-listed author, and you’ll have access to over 60 live classes and workshops each month.
Our programs cost a fraction of an MFA (typically $12,000–$48,000) and, unlike an MFA, you’ll graduate with a finished novel ready to submit—and direct access to literary agents. We maintain close relationships with leading agents worldwide, understand their wish lists, and submit manuscripts we believe are truly ready. We meet with agents regularly to champion our writers, often seeing representation offered within two weeks of submission.
There’s no charge to enter our submissions process, and we never take commission. Our editors work through several rounds of review to help you reach your goal.
You don’t need a course to write a novel—and there are plenty of free ones online. But if you choose to invest with us, you’ll gain dedicated one-to-one support, industry-level editorial guidance, and a warm, creative community that takes your writing—and your investment—seriously. We never forget it’s a privilege to be part of your story.
How does it compare to a Creative Writing Masters or MFA?
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) is a graduate degree that usually takes two to three years to complete. Applications for Creative Writing MFAs require a sample portfolio for entry, and prices can range from $12,000 to $48,000. Like any graduate degree, these courses vary greatly in terms of quality and resources. But one thing’s for sure: publishers aren’t looking for qualifications. They just want top-quality submissions.
Students join The Novelry to write a book that will sell. More affordable than a Creative Writing MFA, our most comprehensive course is just a fraction of the cost. Most importantly, graduates leave our program holding a full manuscript, having worked with global bestselling authors and professional editors to reach publishing standard.
How does The Finished Novel Course save over $1,000 (GBP £1,000)?
The Finished Novel Course is our bundled course program with a full read of your novel from professional publishing editors, carefully packaged to save you money. The price of all the items includes a discount of over $1000 or £1000 when purchased separately.
The price showing at our website today includes your savings. While offer lasts.
You can spread the cost too, with monthly payments.
Plus, you can extend your access to the program and keep everything included from just $59 or £49 after your year of access ends. It’s the smartest plan for writers who mean business, and includes a full manuscript review from our Big Five editorial team too!
Can I get feedback on my work from your team?
Yes! Our courses focus on the development of your story, as we know that’s the key ingredient for successful submission to literary agents and editors who will only consider the story and the pitch before they get to reading your work, in the same way readers scan the back jacket copy before deciding to buy. Story is everything, but so many aspiring writers don’t understand that and focus on their writing style, wasting time on the fancy words when the story sucks. We make sure we work alongside you in coaching sessions, giving feedback on your storyline as it develops, in every session. We take a real-world practical approach to getting published that no other course does. Just check out our success stories.
You can get feedback on your writing as and when you want it with additional paid feedback sessions with your coach or your editorial team. We don’t include these in the plans as it would put the price up, and not all writers need them, or some have signed up for a course like The Finished Novel Course, which includes feedback in The Big Edit phase and a full manuscript read, too.
We strongly advise writers to get feedback on the storyline only (included in your coaching) at first draft. Once you know the story, you can then revise it in the editing phase of our program, and that’s the right place to get feedback. Otherwise, you’re wasting your time and money! We don’t want that! Our process is carefully considered to help writers make it all the way to publishing without spending a fortune on editors before they know they have a great story!
You can purchase additional feedback sessions to 5,000 words at a time at $450 USD or £350 GBP, and enjoy as much expert feedback or critique from our Big Five editors or your writing coach as you want.
Is the writing group community available in my time zone?
Our writing community is online worldwide 24/7. Wherever you are, you’ll find writing buddies online when you’re seeking good company. It’s a hive of friendly writerly encouragement, full of advice, tips and news, and you can get feedback on your work when you’re editing your novel too, at our workshop. You’ll be invited to join the closed secure community when you join us on our courses or classes. With our Catch Up TV service, you can watch back all recorded guest events at a time to suit you. Find out more about our community here.
What live group writing classes do you offer?
We offer over 60+ live classes every month, with weekly writing classes for all writers at any stage, including genre workshops and our Story Clinic, which is hosted by a writing coach. Come and meet your fellow writers. Plus, we offer special guests sessions with bestselling authors and industry professionals and genre-based small-group workshops in every time zone.
Don’t worry if you miss a special guest event class. They are available recorded as part of our Catch Up TV at our community. You’ll love our vast library of recorded classes with world-famous writers like Kristin Hannah, Yann Martel, Tayari Jones, Val McDermid, Paula Hawkins, David Nicholls, and many more.
What kind of writer are these courses suitable for?
Our typical writer member has wanted to write a book for a long, long time. They are heavy readers, very often cat- or dog-lovers, and they are very curious about the way humans work! We know writers are sensitive souls, that’s why we’ve created such a warm and nurturing environment. We’re writers, too! Writers at any stage of their journey will flourish at The Novelry.
We welcome beginners. (No bad habits!) We are open to all and non-selective as a principle because we know we can teach. What do you need? Probably a love of reading is all.
If you have a novel you have started or abandoned, you will find all you need to stay on track to complete it this time.
Often writers come to us after taking courses elsewhere. We are the place writers come to write through to achieving their goals because our focus is wholly on you and your story. Your success means the world to us.
How much time will I need to set aside?
An hour a day. You can take the classes at your own pace and spend as much time as you like writing after the lesson. Writers LOVE the lessons and binge them, but we suggest one lesson a day, which will take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, or as long as you wish to allow. The lesson is given by video and text with downloads online and it’s timed to coincide with where you’re at in your writing process. You’ll need to set aside an hour a day for your writing when you begin to put pen to paper. It’s one hour just for you and you’ll come to love this special time.
One hour a day? You deserve it.
When does the writing course start and how long do I have it for?
Our self-paced writing courses start the moment you sign up. Ready when you are!
You have a year’s access to your course but can easily and affordably extend access to your program with our extension plans for a maximum price of $59 or £49 a month (less if you buy an annual plan).
