Vicki Barsby
As Writer Experience and Operations Manager, Vicki takes care of our writers and the systems that support them, serving as the primary point of contact for our community. After gaining early experience in print media and broadcasting, Vicki spent 13 years as a secondary school English teacher—a role born of a lifelong love of books and storytelling. Her work in the classroom led her to found Life Story Education, a Relationships Education initiative that was shortlisted for both a TES Award and a Debrett’s Education Award. She has degrees from The University of Birmingham, The University of Toronto, and The University of Exeter.
Vicki is an experienced project lead, educational entrepreneur, and diplomatic facilitator with a career that spans high-level academic roles and the creative industries. Before her tenure in some of the UK’s most prestigious schools, she was a staff writer for Time Out Magazine Shanghai, a copywriter in the French Alps, and a researcher for Talkback Thames and Wall to Wall Television in London.
She brings this blend of operational grit and educational insight to The Novelry, ensuring our writers are supported at every stage of their creative process. (She also knows a thing or two about high-pressure environments, having managed bars in the Alps and led hordes of teenagers on international watersports trips!)
