Safe Stay Policy for Retreats.

We offer our writers the space and privacy for some happy productive writing time, and a peace of mind safety policy.

In order to protect you and ensure you feel safe on our retreats, here are some of the safety measures we’re currently putting in place during the current COVID-19 crisis.

Our accommodation provider, Marshwood Manor, is following national guidelines in relation to cleaning protocols which set out the extra measures to be taken. The guidelines have been carefully considered and developed at industry level to protect the health and safety of guests.

Please note the cottages, with single occupancy individual rooms for sleep with writing space, allow for social distancing. The common areas have sufficient space to allow for safe social distancing too.

For any communal or group activity, meals or dinners, sessions or readings, we are taking steps to aid distancing between our writer guests with more space between you.

  • All linens sanitized in high-temperature wash
  • Hand sanitizer/handwash available to guests & staff
  • Regularly sanitized high-traffic areas
  • Staff required to regularly wash hands
  • Regular self-temperature checks for staff
  • Contactless check-in
  • Contactless check-out
  • PPE and only disposable cloths provided for housekeeping staff
  • Individually wrapped toiletries
  • Use of SurSol Surface Disinfectant, SurSol Fabric & Upholstery Sanitiser and Sursol Antibacterial Carpet Cleaning Spray - effective against Coronavirus
  • Added housekeeping hours for cleaning of cottages plus targeting of specific hazardous areas i.e. doorknobs/latches, light switches etc.
  • Closing of bar area to minimize cross-contamination

We ask you kindly to help us ensure your safety and that of your fellow writers with the following:

  • Please observe social distancing around other guests
  • Please use handwash frequently
  • Please let us know immediately if anyone in your cottage is unwell
  • Please adhere to the earlier check-out time of 9am
  • Please strip bedding and place it in the laundry bag provided
  • Please put towels in the laundry bag provided
  • Please ensure to dispose of all waste/recycling from wastebins/kitchen bins before you leave

If you develop symptoms prior to your stay, you must follow the latest NHS guidance in this respect and not travel under any circumstances. Please help us ensure this is the case by taking your temperature prior to departure for your retreat. It is your responsibility to ensure you are fit and well to travel.

If you develop symptoms during your stay and a test confirms infection please let us know and prepare to leave the property immediately.
